Everything will stop, all the inputs and animation still works. You will notice ammo counts and things like overheat cease functionality. It is not just random connection issues either. It will occur when you have a vehicle dead to rights or get the jump on a protosuit. I know I am not the only one who notices, I've messaged people after battle to see if they experienced the same issues. No lag switch is a fallacy, someone out there has figured out a method and they are keeping a tight lid on it. That's server side lag. My squad had a really bad case of it in one match yesterday and everyone was affected at the same time for each lag. Our individual PS3's would animate us assuming that the server would agree, but then we would suddenly rubber band back to the start because the server informed our PS3s that we hadn't moved at all due to it being to laggy to register it. people are using it to benefit. The guy you are shooting at is now beside you. The dropship you had flaming is now miles away. Its too coincidental for me to write off as a CCP oops. Every time I get a shot on particular people the game goes all wonky? Every other red in the match is fine, kill em no prob with no lag. Believe what you want, its only a rare occurrence at this point. The result is the same but backwards from what the OP wants to happen. If you are shooting at someone and then they have moved 100 meters away your client is being updated to the current state on the server. Your client will attempt to smooth out movement to some degree but the server state will always take precedence. Your client saying you lagged but you intended to move behind someone won't work. That enemy is continuing to move as well and if they have a consistent connection their client will be more up to date than yours and you'll be dead. TL;DR lag switches can only provide a benefit to you if you are hosting the fight no matter what kind of magic you want to attribute to it.
I have to agree with Darken-Soul on this one. The first time I saw this was in a PC on a rather important battle. Every time we went to hack a point it would rewind on us and we would loose the hack. It always occurred at key points, never just randomly. Also the other side had no problem slaughtering us even though we were just in a really close PC battle 10mins earlier.
I've also seen it since then in some pubs. Sometimes it does seem like server side issues, other times it's very clearly occurring right when you are taking out a certain tanker. Once or twice could be coincidence... but i've seen it keep recurring repeatedly with some guys in one match.
Please fix the mic bubble bug...
